Silence Solitude Security

There is something comforting about knowing that “Thomas Merton struggled with his own productivity as I do mine. He said “Afternoons for nothing. For cutting away all that is practical. Learning to wash your cup and rise to nothing”.

He was a monk and silence and solitude was a big part of his life. Although I am not a monk, my life is silence and solitude, especially during Covid.

My inner experience is truly a mystery to me. As a type A personality type, it baffles me how silence and solitude comfort and challenge me at the same time. The challenge is sitting with whatever comes up and consenting to the process of -I don’t know what. Having faith that God does for me and in me whatever He wishes. The comfort is the same because I have no answers to any problems.

Like Thomas Merton said “One of the strange laws of contemplative life is that you do not sit down and solve problems, you bear with them until they somehow solve themselves “.

God steps into everything and shows me over and over again, how much He loves me. Today at the Meat Farms Store, with $23 in my account, I was able to get more than what I intended. It cost $20.46.

When I step into what I am concerned about, God has already handled it.
