Check the Temperature and Change the Thermostat

When I walk into a room I am either conscious or unconscious of the temperature. The conversation, dress and intangible way of being, indicate the temperature, Is the conversation encouraging, uplifting, or complaining, judgmental, fearful? Interesting, laughter can be present in both scenarios.

I have learned that regardless of the temperature, I can change the thermostat. I can encourage and compliment observations. I can ask questions that induce positive, authentic conversation and /or laughter at no one’s expense. It is leadership in action.

If the thermostat is broken, I can always leave the room.

I also like that it suggests a variety of healthy actions that I can take based on whatever situation I am in.
